The Ensemble Members

Kevin Ramessar, guitar, earned his Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University. During his studies there, he was awarded the prestigious Maureen Forrester Performance Scholarship and the Garfield Weston Scholarship, graduating with the Gold Medal in 2000. Kevin has performed extensively across Canada and has made several appearances in Europe, including a performance at the Lugano Jazz Festival on trumpet.

He was awarded twice the First Place for guitar at the National Finals of the Canadian Music Competitions, and won Second Prize in the Swiss Youth Music Competition. An active performer and studio musician in Ontario, Kevin has soloed with the Waterloo Chamber Players and played with the Stratford Festival Orchestra. He has also appeared in the Stratford Summer Music Festival, the National Arts Centre  and has been featured on several television broadcasts, demonstrating in his playing what the Kitchener-Waterloo Record describes as “musicianship to die for.”
In February 2002, Kevin released an independent solo classical CD Echoes: The Sacred Dance featuring guitar music of the last three centuries, as well as original arrangements of two traditional songs.

His most recent solo concert at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto on October 17 was taped for broadcast on CBC Radio Two's "Music Around Us", and music from his CD has been heard on CBC's "Music For Awhile."

Brian Orr, piano, began studying classical piano at age 5, and earned his ARCT degree in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Ontario in 1992. Through these studies at the RCM, Brian completed courses in harmony, counterpoint and music analysis, which initiated a strong interest in composition.

Throughout high school and university, Brian wrote music for computer games, short videos segments, and for projects for Microsoft Corporation and The Ontario Secondary School Board. During this time, he continued to develop as a pianist and keyboardist, and began to develop an interest in other types of music such as jazz, blues and various forms of popular music.

In the more recent years, Brian has been performing in the Kitchener-Waterloo region with a variety of musical groups, such as The Datsun Five (classic jazz), with Jeremy Moyer (ethnic), and Filet o' Funk (modern jazz).

Brian has also studied violin, trumpet, trombone and voice, and also enjoys playing the guitar.

Graham Gladstone, percussion, is a recent Wilfrid Laurier University graduate and was invited to tour with Martha’s Trouble, a folk duo performing last summer in the southern US.

Martin Witzke, bass, performs extensively with bands including Big Tent, and the Community Fellowship Church Worship Team, and is an active performer and studio musician in the GTA and K-W region.
